Pitt gripped in drought bullseye: Historically dry conditions raise concern
A dearth of April showers and less than half an inch of total recorded precipitation in June has made Pitt County a poster child for ongoing statewide drought conditions, an expert said. Rainfall totals in Pitt County from January-June are almost 7.82 inches below the norm, according to data provided by Corey Davis, assistant state climatologist for the North Carolina State Climate Office. Trillium preparing for new management plan
Starting July 1 the organization responsible for managing mental health care for Medicaid and uninsured patients across half of the state took on the physical health care of people with several mental health needs. Autopsy reveals man was killed elsewhere before body dumped in woods
Pitt County, NC — A newly obtained autopsy report reveals that a man who was found dead earlier this year was killed at a different location before his body was dumped. Winterville man charged with three Pitt County break-ins
A man suspected of breaking into a Bell Arthur convenience store and stealing more than $1,600 in cigarettes has been charged with that crime and similar ones in Greenville and Winterville, authorities said. Woman in fraud cases arrested after skipping sentencing in March
A Greenville woman who pleaded guilty to more than 27 counts of fraud has been charged again after she failed to show up to her sentencing hearing in March, authorities said. The Pitt County Sheriff’s Office said that in February Jacqueline Carrie Barr, 22, of 3914 Sterling Pointe Drive, pleaded guilty in Pitt County Superior Court to 27 counts of felony obtaining property by false pretense. She was accused of withdrawing more than $10,000 from multiple personal bank accounts. ...

Parole check in Vanceboro leads to arrest, firearms and cocaine seized
The Pitt County Sheriff's Office say two people are now behind bars facing multiple charges following a parolee check on Sunday, June 30.
