Man held on $1 million bond after shots fired, no injuries reported
GREENVILLE, Pitt County — A suspect accused of exchanging gunfire is now behind bars under a $1 million bond. 40-year-old Travis Jermaine Pittman of Greenville faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, possession of a firearm by felon, solicit unlawful purchase of a firearm, going armed to the terror of the public, carrying a concealed firearm, discharging a firearm in city limits and damage to property.

(WITN) - The Pitt County Girls Softball League 12u All-Stars won the Little League Softball World Series Host Regional championship Tuesday night defeating Johnston County 15-0 in 4 innings. The PCGSL team is made up of some of the players from last year’s World Series runner-up and will no doubt be a big draw at Stallings Stadium as the true hometown hosts. Heat, drought expected to persist
Pitt County and eastern North Carolina continue to share the misery of heat that’s gripping the United States, and federal data predicts that temperatures will remain high at least through September. The first five months of 2024 were the warmest locally since 2017 and the sixth warmest since 1895, data from the National Centers for Environmental Information, part of the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, shows.
