Pitt County 12-and-under team wins state title, back into LLSWS
GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — For the third-straight year, Pitt County’s ladies will be playing in the Little League Softball World Series. The 12-and-under team defeated Johnston County 15-0 Tuesday night to win the state championship. The North Carolina state champ will open play against Asia-Pacific Aug. 4 at 7 p.m.

Childhood friend reacts to Pitt County Double Shooting investigation
Farmville, PITT COUNTY — Pitt County deputies are investigating a shooting that occurred Sunday night around 8 PM on South Glenwood Lane in Farmville. Tiffany Holmes, a friend of one of the victims, said she was shocked when she heard about the shooting. "It's really a situation I wish could be taken back," she said. "I wouldn't think anything like this would happen to him."
Sheriff's Office: Two dead in shooting outside Farmville
Pitt County Sheriff’s Office deputies found two men dead by gunfire Sunday evening in a trailer park outside of Farmville, the agency reported. The agency said deputies responded to 3826 S. Glenwood Lane at 7:54 p.m. to the report of two men suffering gunshot wounds. When they arrived the men were dead. A preliminary investigation indicated there were no other shooters involved at the scene, the sheriff’s office said. The investigation is active. The neighborhood is located off of Dr. Jones Road, which is off of East Marlboro Road, east of town. Identities of the victims are being withheld pending notification of their families, the sheriff’s office said. Anyone with information was asked to contact Pitt-Greenville Crime Stoppers at 758-7777.
