Schools to make opioid overdose drug available on campuses
Pitt County Schools will make a drug that can reverse opioid overdose available on campuses beginning in August. The Board of Education last week unanimously approved a policy making the drug naloxone available for emergency use beginning with the 2024-25 school year. WINTERVILLE — A facility coming to Pitt Community College in 2025 will more than double the capacity of the state’s largest welding program and strengthen the foundation of the local workforce, officials said at a June 28 groundbreaking ceremony. Pitt County woman arrested after fleeing sentencing, destroying ankle monitor
PITT COUNTY, NC — A Pitt County woman is back behind bars facing multiple charges after failing to appear for sentencing. The sheriff's office says in July 2022 they received a report of an apparent fraud where more than $10,000 dollars was taken from the victim's personal bank accounts.
Parole check in Vanceboro leads to arrest, firearms and cocaine seized
The Pitt County Sheriff's Office say two people are now behind bars facing multiple charges following a parolee check on Sunday, June 30. Probation officers and deputies searched a home on NC 43 S in Vanceboro Sunday evening at approximately 7:21 pm where they seized three firearms, over 4 grams of cocaine and digital scales.
Winterville man faces charges for string of countywide store break-ins
Pitt County, NC — Pitt County deputies have arrested a man linked to multiple store break-ins across the county. Darrell Shea David, 60 of Winterville is now facing multiple charges related to breaking or entering, larceny after breaking or entering and possession of burglary tools, according to the sheriff's department.

Wayne County’s 13-game winning streak comes to an end

New Greenville art sculpture celebrates LGBTQ+ history

Start of welding building construction project nears
WINTERVILLE — Pitt Community College is preparing for the start of work on a new welding technology building that will provide the school with much-needed instructional space for what is presently the state’s largest welding program. Earlier this year, during an on-campus meeting between county and college leaders, PCC President Lawrence Rouse thanked Pitt County Commissioners for agreeing to support construction of the building. Pitt partnership receives $125,000 for reentry program
