CAEATFA grants Archer approval for electric powertrain facility ramp-up
Archer Aviation Inc. (Santa Clara, Calif., U.S.) has received approval from the California Alternative Energy and Advanced Transportation Financing Authority (CAEATFA) for its ~$117 million project. This approval covers the planned expansion of Archer’s advanced manufacturing facilities in California, including the ramp-up of its electric powertrain facility, as it readies for commercialization of its electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. The CAEATFA sales and use tax exclusion is expected to result in ~$10 million in benefit to Archer over the next few years.

Fairfield Police Seek Public's Help to Identify Suspects in ATM Skimming Scam at Local Gas Station
In an incident that highlights the continuing risk of financial fraud at local businesses, the Fairfield Police Department has appealed to the public for assistance after two men allegedly placed a skimming device on a gas pump. According to the Fairfield Police Department, the suspicious activity occurred around 2:55 pm. Fortunately, the device was discovered quickly enough to ensure that only two customers had used the tampered pump before removing it.
The First Electric School Bus Fleet in the US Will Also Power Homes
(Bloomberg) — In an industrial corner of Oakland, wedged between a 10-lane freeway and a freight terminal, sits California’s newest source of renewable energy: a squadron of shiny yellow electric school buses. It’s the first all-electric bus fleet serving a major US school district. Starting in August, the 74 vehicles will also supply 2.1 gigawatt-hours of electricity to the Bay Area power grid, enough energy for 300 to 400 homes.
