Paul Skenes somehow recorded his first career pickoff against Elly De La Cruz

Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Paul Skenes threw his first career pickoff came against one of the best base runners in the MLB.

Skenes had the sharp eye and precise throw to get an out on Cincinnati Reds superstar Elly De La Cruz, who has established himself as one of the quickest runners in the entire league.

It is very hard to throw out a player like De La Cruz, much less get him while he’s still hovering around the base. However, Skenes has taken the MLB by storm and has proven himself capable of doing some pretty special things.

Apparently, recording his first pickoff against De La Cruz is part of that impressive rookie equation.
