A DUI task force will be in action in the North Hills this weekend.

There will be checkpoints or roving patrols Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Sgt. Robert Petosky with West Deer Police tells KDKA Radio they'll alternate details in the 14 jurisdictions they cover from Aspinwall to Franklin Park and O’Hara to McCandless.

“Holidays like this we usually like to look around Route 8, we look around Route 19, you know, the major state roadways,” said Petosky.

This DUI task force has been active for 28 years, resulting in more than 1,000 arrests.

Sgt. Ptosky says DUI cases are increasing for both alcohol and drugs, and officers are using drug recognition experts to assist them.
