Would the Steelers be interested in trading for Brandon Aiyuk?

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, 26, is requesting a trade.  It is unclear whether the 49ers will grant his request.  If the 49ers were to engage in trade talks, the Pittsburgh Steelers could be interested.

The Steelers have WR1 George Pickens, 23, on the roster.  He is entering his third NFL season with an impressive 2023 campaign despite the Steelers struggles last season.  Pickens caught five touchdown passes for 1,140 yards.

Aiyuk is the WR2 for the 49ers behind Deebo Samuel.  Last season, he finished with seven touchdown catches for 1,742 yards.  He could slide into a WR1 role in Pittsburgh with a quarterback competition between Russell Wilson and Justin Fields during training camp.

The lingering issue would be what the 49ers would want for Aiyuk.  The Steelers are not known for giving up significant draft picks to trade for players.

Russell Wilson was recently throwing with his former Seahawks teammate DK Metcalf so fans thought if the Steelers would pursue anyone, it would potentially be Metcalf.
