A grocery store in the West End that has been closed for renovations is expected to reopen soon.

The only question is what kind of grocery store will it be?

The former Shop ‘n Save on Noblestown Road has undergone an extensive overhaul, but the location would reopen in the next couple months as a Giant Eagle.

A spokesperson for Giant Eagle told KDKA Radio that they were in negotiations to operate the location.

Then on Thursday, a sign went up that says “Shop ‘n Save” confusing many people in the area.

KDKA Radio reached out again to Giant Eagle. They sent the following statement:

[We] can’t really speak for what is going on with the signage, but we are in ongoing conversations regarding the acquisition of the existing Shop N Save store at 2103 Noblestown Road. The store is currently closed while undergoing an extensive remodel, but we do look forward to celebrating the store’s re-opening as a Giant Eagle and serving our new neighbors once an agreement is finalized and the remodel project is completed.

As of Friday, the Shop ‘n Save sign was blacked out at Noblestown Plaza.

City of Pittsburgh Councilwoman Theresa Kail-Smith tells KDKA Radio she primarily wants to make sure that there is a grocery store at the location that people in the West End, Green Tree and surrounding area can shop at.

It’s her believe that the grocery store will reopen as a Giant Eagle in the coming months, but is waiting for confirmation.

Kail-Smith adds that the entire property is being renovated and that additional businesses will be added in the future.
