Pittsburgh Steelers could trade for stud WR, says NFL analyst

A steep bidding war could take place for San Francisco 49ers star Brandon Aiyuk, who is hoping to find a new home by the start of this season if the two sides can't agree on a contract extension.

Teams searching for help in the wide receivers room will look to pry Aiyuk away from San Francisco. Behind rising star George Pickens, the Pittsburgh Steelers lack established talent, placing them among potential suitors.

NFL.com analyst Bucky Brooks suggested the Steelers as a potential landing spot, alongside the Washington Commanders, New England Patriots, Detroit Lions, and New York Giants.

"The Steelers are indeed masters at developing wideouts, but adding Aiyuk to a lineup that already features an emerging stud in George Pickens could create headaches for foes around the AFC," Brooks wrote. "The potential duo possesses the size, length and athleticism to expose and exploit favorable matchups, while also providing Russell Wilson/Justin Fields with dependable pass-catching options on the perimeter."

Aiyuk would likely overtake Pickens for the top wide receiver spot, but at the very least he would give the Steelers a great one-two punch.

As an intermediate threat who thrives over the middle field, he would likely become Russell Wilson's favorite target. Pickens is viewed as one of the league's top contested catch threats, which doesn't align well with Wilson's playstyle.
