Only in Pittsburgh would a bottle of OxiClean be a fitting tribute at a gravesite.

On what would’ve been McKees Rocks native and “Pitchman” Billy Mays’ 66th birthday this past Saturday, his son spotted what normally would be a peculiar site on a grave.

A single bottle of OxiClean was placed on Mays’ grave at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Kennedy Township. A tribute to the man known as the "King of the Pitchmen".

Billy Mays III tells KDKA Radio says it makes him feel good to see people remembering his dad, 15 years after his untimely death at age 50.

“I’ve seen people on social media visit the grave and take pictures,” said Mays. “One girl a few years ago made a video of herself cleaning it up. I know my grandfather visits there a lot too.”

Mays was a household name around the country, appearing in ads for OxiClean, Orange Glo, Kaboom and more in the early 2000s.

He also starred on the show “Pitchmen” alongside Anthony Sullivan.

Mays III tells KDKA Radio what made his father so special. “He had a unique connection with the everyday person because he was just an everyday guy who became really good at his craft (pitching).”

Mays III keeps his father’s legacy alive today on the website BillyMays.org .
