Pittsburgh-filmed series ‘American Rust’ canceled by Amazon Studios.

Amazon’s Prime Video will not renew the filmed-in-Pittsburgh drama series “American Rust,” for a third season.

Dawn Keezer, Director of the Pittsburgh Film Office tells KDKA Radio the show would've had a great financial impact on southwestern PA.

“Over 1,450 jobs relied on ‘American Rust’ for their employment and countless businesses and vendors,” said Keezer. “We’re disappointed, as is the people who made the show and we’re hopefully going to find another show to take its place.”

“American Rust” is a crime drama starring Jeff Daniels. The setting is a small Rust Belt town in PA.

Keezer says, it seems likely that Paramount+’s “Mayor of Kingstown” will be renewed for a fourth season.

“Mayor of Kingstown” starring Jeremy Renner is filmed in Pittsburgh.
