PITTSBURGH — A Pittsburgh Pirates fan wanted to show the world his devotion to his favorite player, and what better way than to name his child after him?

According to CBS News , Jordan Lundquist used social media to get the attention of the famous Pirate, Andrew McCutchen, to introduce his son, Cutch.

The power of social media worked for the now-father of three. McCutchen saw the X post and replied, “Well now I need to meet Cutch!”

Lundquist told CBS that it was his wife who had brought up the name a few years ago. He said that she is from Arizona but became a Pirates fan when the two started dating in 2016.

He told the news station that they love McCutchen “for what he represents on and off the field.” He said that they love that he is a family man and his loyalty to his team.

Drafted by the Pirates in 2005, McCutchen played outfield for Pittsburgh until 2017, when CBS said he left to play for the San Francisco Giants. He played for several teams but returned to the Pirates in 2023.

McCutchen is also a father, CBS reports. He has four kids with his wife, Maria. The pair welcomed a new baby girl earlier this year.

We’re still waiting to hear when Cutch plans to meet his namesake.
