WJET/WFXP (Latrobe, PA)–The Steelers have made it through one week of training camp.

Quarterback Russell Wilson ran through agility drills and took some rep on Sunday but was still limited due to his calf tightness that continues to hold him back.

Head coach Mike Tomlin announced that Wilson will fully return to practice when the pads come on next week.

Justin Field and Kyle Allen are using this time to progress and get in some extra throws.

Allen is taking this opportunity to get better and says he feels confident is what he’s shown so far.

“I feel like I’ve executed well. I think there is things to clean up and there’s more comfortable in the offense, but I think I’ve I felt confident how I’ve been playing. I’ve been playing well… Russ is good. He’s always engaged, you know, he hates not being out there but he’s a good team player. He’s old so he’s really helpful in the room. He’s got a lot of knowledge and he’s speaking up. He’s just being how he always is.”

As for Tyler Matakevich he was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers back in 2016. He has spent the last four years with the Buffalo Bills.

Earlier this month Matakevich signed a one-year contract with the Black and Gold.

He says it’s a dream come true to return to Latrobe as a Pittsburgh Steeler.

“Oh, there was no hesitation. To just have the opportunity to come play for Mike Tomlin and Danny Smith and all these great coaches. I mean there was nowhere else I’d rather be. So it was honestly such an easy decision for me to come back up here as soon as soon as Omar called…I mean Latrobe is a special place you know, In Buffalo we got to St. John Fisher and stuff so they go away as well but it’s just a different feel being back up here in Latrobe and shoot I’m so excited to be back.”

The Steelers have Monday off. They will return to the field for their first day of practice in full pads. That’s happening on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m.
