Former Michigan WR Roman Wilson carted off at Steelers training camp

Tuesday marked the first day of pads for the Pittsburgh Steelers .

Unfortunately for fans of the franchise and Michigan football, attention centered on former Wolverine and rookie wide receiver Roman Wilson after he was carted off the practice field at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania during Tuesday's training camp session.

He appeared to sustain an injury on a jet sweep, according to a report from Mike DeFabo, The Athletic's Steelers beat reporter. Several reports indicated that it looked to be an injury to his left foot or ankle.

Per ESPN's Brooke Pryor, Steelers coach Mike Tomlin told the media after practice concluded Tuesday that he did not know the status of Wilson's injury as he was still being evaluated by the team's training staff.

"It was unfortunate we had an injury today, man," Tomlin said Tuesday. "Roman hurt his ankle on the tackle and so we'll have more information regarding the length of his status in terms of how long he might be out."

Wilson has put together a strong start to his first NFL training camp, as the former Wolverine receiver and third-round pick of the 2024 NFL draft has taken snaps with the Steelers' first-team unit.

Wilson, who led the Wolverines in catches (48), receiving yards (789) and touchdowns (12) last season, was taken in the third round (No. 84 overall) of the 2024 NFL draft by the Steelers.
