Weather looking promising for Hot Air Jubilee and remainder of Women’s National Championship week
Jackson, Mich. WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) - Katrina A. Cuzynski, 53, of Montpelier, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 14th, 2024, at her sister’s home. A Memorial Gathering will be held at the House of Prayer at 115 Empire Street in Montpelier, Ohio on August 17th, 2024, from 9 am to 11 am. A Celebration of Life will begin at 11 am in the House of Prayer.

JACKSON -- The 2023-24 school year has come and gone, the sports seasons for high school teams have wrapped up, and all the trophies have been distributed to their new homes. The last honor to award is the MLive Ultimate State Champion. Nearly a decade ago, MLive’s Steve Kaminski developed the formula to determine which school had the best year across all sports. Though we lost Steve in December 2022, we carry on his legacy with the award.

Bryan Women’s Club Donates To Inclusive Playground
PLAYGROUND DONATION … Thank you to the Bryan Area Business Women’s Club (BABWC) for donating $1,000 to the Lincoln Park Inclusive Playground located on the former site of the Lincoln Elementary School. Even though the playground is now open for all to enjoy, additional funds are still being collected for future upgrades, including fencing and benches. And we are grateful for the BABWC’s contribution to help make the area even better! Man charged with deaths of couple hit by SUV after Sylvania concert
Bond was set at $310,000 during arraignment Monday of a Fulton County man charged for the deaths of a Swanton couple who were struck by an SUV as they left a concert at Centennial Terrace on Saturday night. Donald Christian, 54, of Lyons, Ohio is charged in Sylvania Municipal Court with two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide and one count of operating under the influence of alcohol or drugs in the crash reported at 10:56 p.m. on Centennial Road just south of Erie Street in Sylvania. His next court date was scheduled for July 24 following the video arraignment before Magistrate Christy Cole. Donald J. Fern, 78, and Therese Fern, 66, both died after being taken to ProMedica Toledo Hospital following the crash. Mr. Christian was arrested at the scene and booked into the Lucas County jail. Sylvania Police Chief Danilynn Miller said Monday that the Ferns and Mr. Christian all had attended the concert Saturday evening at Centennial Terrace. The pedestrian deaths were Sylvania’s first since 2013, the chief said.

Todd Emmons comments on the race for Summit Township Superintendent
Jackson, Mich. (WKHM, Greg O’Connor) — Todd Emmons is the incumbent Superintendent in Summit Township and is being challenged by Trustee John Griffin. There seem to be several areas of contention among these two candidates, but the most pressing is a township unfunded liability of $9,081,143. Sadie Bass, Tigirlily Gold take on Faster Horses
When a 19-year-old Sadie Bass drove down from her hometown of Bath, just outside of Lansing, to attend the Michigan country music festival Faster Horses, she could only dream of one day playing on that stage. That same year, Bass decided to seriously pursue music as a career, leaving college behind. Original song 'Through All These Years' celebrates Tecumseh's bicentennial
TECUMSEH — This weekend offers new opportunities to hear a song written for Tecumseh's bicentennial. "Through All These Years," written by Phil Devaney, had its premiere May 5 with the Tecumseh Pops Orchestra and Community Chorus. The chorus will perform it again at the "WTCA Radio Show" Sunday, July 21. There are two shows, at 3 and 7 p.m., at the Tecumseh Center for the Arts, 400 N. Maumee St. Tickets are free but need to be reserved in advance online at thetca.org, by calling 517-423-6617 or by visiting the box office, which is open from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday and one hour before the showtimes.
