Sadie Bass, Tigirlily Gold take on Faster Horses
When a 19-year-old Sadie Bass drove down from her hometown of Bath, just outside of Lansing, to attend the Michigan country music festival Faster Horses, she could only dream of one day playing on that stage. That same year, Bass decided to seriously pursue music as a career, leaving college behind. In the past few years, the 27-year-old singer and songwriter has released six studio singles, made appearances on television shows like "The Voice," and hustled to write songs and build her stage presence.
Todd Emmons comments on the race for Summit Township Superintendent

Original song 'Through All These Years' celebrates Tecumseh's bicentennial
TECUMSEH — This weekend offers new opportunities to hear a song written for Tecumseh's bicentennial. "Through All These Years," written by Phil Devaney, had its premiere May 5 with the Tecumseh Pops Orchestra and Community Chorus. The chorus will perform it again at the "WTCA Radio Show" Sunday, July 21. There are two shows, at 3 and 7 p.m., at the Tecumseh Center for the Arts, 400 N. Maumee St. Tickets are free but need to be reserved in advance online at thetca.org, by calling 517-423-6617 or by visiting the box office, which is open from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday and one hour before the showtimes.

Bryan Fire Chief Guest Speaker Of Kiwanis Club
BRYAN CHIEF … The guest speaker at the July 10, 2024 meeting was City of Bryan Fire Chief Doug Pool. Chief Pool spoke about his personal life history and his experiences that led to a career in firefighting. A native of Bryan, Chief Pool graduated from Bryan High School in 1982. Following a stint in the military, Chief Pool first volunteered for the fire department in 1995 and became a full-time firefighter shortly thereafter. He was promoted to captain and became the Assistant Fire Chief in 2006. He succeeded Chief Bruce Sider on 12/31/2021 and notes that he is very proud of his department. I remember Jackson's “Progress Place” vividly. Boy, how I remember. It was considered by a majority of residents to be the worst thing that ever happened to downtown Jackson. Literally, ever. When they were finished building this in 1964, I remember having to walk way too far (I thought) to get to my favorite downtown places – like Woolworth's, the Capitol Theater, and the shoe shop.
Simpson to play softball at Adrian College
After completing her senior year as a member of the Mount Gilead softball team, Greer Simpson will take her talents to Adrian College in Michigan. Simpson, who will major in exercise science, finished her high school career in style. She was a first-team All-KMAC competitor who completed her season with a .492 batting average that included six doubles and four home runs, while also stealing eight bases.
