It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden death of David E. Storkson Sr., on July 11, 2024, at the age of 81. David was born in Jefferson, on April 23, 1943, to Lawrence A. Hubley, and Mildred H. (Cunningham) Hubley. At an early age, David was fortunate to be raised by Gussie and Peter Storkson, of Whitefield, and later adopted into the Storkson family.

WARREN — Julieanne R. Hyatt, 82, died peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, Thursday, July 4, 2024, following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Rockland, June 20, 1942, she was the daughter of Julian and Virginia Thompson Oliver. Educated locally she attended Rockland District High School. Later in life she earned her diploma from Camden Rockport High School at the same time as some of her children.
Suspect Who Caused Rt 3 Augusta, Maine Road Closure Tuesday Identified
Many people around Central Maine received automatic emergency messages on their phones yesterday about an ongoing situation happening near Route 3 in Augusta. We got word yesterday afternoon that a fairly large section of North Belfast Avenue (Rt 3) was closed between Churchill and Bolton Hill Roads for an 'ongoing situation'. We also learned through members of our audience that some area businesses, including multiple daycares, were on lockdown as well.
2nd Arrest In Cushing ‘Abuse Of Corpse’ Case Following Police Chase
A second arrest has been made in connection with the death of a person in Cushing, and the abuse of their corpse. State Police arrested 41-year-old Mark Gagne last Friday, charging him with Hindering Apprehension and Abuse of a Corps after processing a scene at 834 River Road in Cushing.

Saturday’s season highlight was the annual wine tasting with sommelier extraordinaire Jack Bauman. Jack captivated the crowd once again with a new twist: the comparison of two wines of the same type of grape. One was higher priced and one was lower. The group took hand votes and it was surprising how many favored the less expensive of the pair. We are so grateful for Jack’s witty personality and vast experience in the field of wine.

Born in 1924 in New Brunswick, Canada, Ralph was raised in Waterville. Ralph became an Eagle Scout in his youth, embodying the Scouts commitment to service and community throughout his life. He proudly trained as a B-24 gunner in the Air Force during World War II, a role that took courage and dedication.

According to some local history, the Bridge House, located at the center of Boothbay Harbor’s famous Footbridge, was built in 1902 by bridge tender William F. Foster. At that time, my guess is, there was a central section off the footbridge that pivoted open and closed to allow boats to enter the inner harbor. I know that for most of our 50 odd years’ existence here in the area, there was still a central section of the footbridge that was capable of movement. Such is not the case at present.
