Affordable housing lotteries offer luxury amenities

THE BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) — A new building in the Bronx with amenities, including a rooftop garden and even a pet spa, is just one among many affordable housing lotteries in luxury buildings across New York City.

The building is called the Bronx Vibe.

29-year-old James Giovan says he will never forget the time he got an email saying he won the housing lottery back in March. Giovan is the social media coordinator at the MTA and will be moving into the Bronx Vibe in just a few weeks.

The building has 155 units, 47 of which are affordable.

Sarah Salzberg with Bohemia Realty Group says it’s rare to find affordable housing that has so many free luxury amenities. From a rooftop garden to the outdoor kitchen, a two-story game room, a penthouse-level gym, and even a pet spa.

Giovan says he turns thirty in a few weeks and for his birthday he is getting a puppy.

All the affordable apartments in the Bronx Vibe are taken, but there are dozens of open lotteries across the city listed on NYC Housing Connect.
