Mayor Andre Sayegh will join the diner’s new owners, Vaughn and Marnie McKoy, to celebrate the grand reopening.

The restaurant first opened in 1940 as Pickering’s Grill. In 2008, it was purchased by civil rights activist Russell “G” Graddy, who ran the diner until his death in 2021.

The diner will retain the same name and location. The new owners are introducing some modern upgrades such as a new kitchen and appliances, LED signage, and an outdoor seating area.

“They note that Mr. G’s is more than just a diner. It has been a focal point for the community for more than eight decades, and they look forward to carrying on that tradition,” a press release from the City of Paterson stated.
