Three men captured after violent home invasion robbery

DOUGLASTON, Queens (PIX11) — A family was woken up and attacked in their home early Saturday morning during a violent invasion, police say.

Three men broke into a home in the vicinity of Marathon Parkway and Cullman Avenue through a window just before 2:30 a.m., according to authorities. A family of eight, including a one-year-old child, was home at the time of the invasion.

Police say the robbers were carrying a gun and two hammers, one of which was used to hit a 43-year-old man in the foot while another suspect punched a 71-year-old woman in the face. The group then escaped through another window with an unknown amount of cash.

When officers arrived at the scene they found one of the woman from the home running with her baby.

NYPD immediately set up a perimeter around the area with help from the Emergency Service Unit and aviation unit, according to the department’s social media post . Using information from drones, police captured the three suspects nearby.

It’s still unknown whether the home invasion was a random or targeted attack. Police are continuing to investigate the scene as they determine what, if any, charges the three men in custody could face.
