NEW YORK (PIX11) — Starting Monday, New Yorkers can witness a rare spectacle in the night sky: a super blue moon.

The full moon in August, also known as the Sturgeon Moon, will be at or near its closest point to Earth at 2:26 p.m .

Stargazers will not see a significant difference in the size of the moon, but the sky will be a bit brighter than usual due to the moon’s proximity to Earth, according to NASA . The moon will appear 14% larger than when it is furthest from Earth, similar to the size difference between a dime and a nickel.

NASA predicts the next super blue moons will occur in January and March 2037.
