Child shot at New Jersey house party: police

BAYONNE, N.J. (PIX11) – A juvenile was taken into police custody on Thursday evening for allegedly shooting another minor at a house party in Bayonne, police said.

The two kids briefly argued at the house party near West 9th Street a few minutes before 8 p.m., police said. The victim was then shot in the hip, police said.

The suspect fled the scene on a bicycle, according to police. The victim was taken to a hospital and was expected to recover.

The suspect was taken into police custody an hour after the shooting. Police believe the suspect and victim knew each other prior to the fight.

The suspect was charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault with a weapon, possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a handgun.

Due to their ages, the juveniles have not been identified by police.
