Woman attacked by man with knife at Newark airport: police

NEWARK, N.J. (PIX11) – A woman was attacked by a man with a knife at Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey on Sunday, authorities said.

The incident happened at the Terminal A departures level at the airport around 5 p.m., according to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

Police witnessed a man attacking a woman with a knife on the right side of her face and quickly arrested him, authorities said.

The woman was taken to a hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

Authorities identified the suspect as Jin Xiong, a 54-year-old homeless man. He faces charges of aggravated assault and unlawful possession of a weapon.
