BED-STUY, Brooklyn (PIX11) – At least nine people were injured in a four-alarm fire that swept across a cluster of buildings in Brooklyn late Monday night, according to the FDNY.

The fire broke out at a building on Dean Street between Mother Gaston Boulevard and Sackman Street around 10:40 p.m. Over 160 firefighters and EMS personnel responded to the scene, per fire officials.

Firefighters were seen deploying ladders to strategically blast water from up high to douse rising flames before eventually taking the firefight inside. Three civilians and six firefighters were injured in the blaze, according to the FDNY.

Neighbors watched the hours-long effort to control the fire.

“The first thing I saw was the flames coming out of the windows. It was like an inferno – everything was fire, fire. All the flames coming out and the fire keeps moving from one house to the next. It went to four houses,” Frederico Pagan, a neighbor, told PIX11 News.

At least 25 adults and six children were displaced, per fire officials.

“Luckily the tenants that live upstairs, they knocked on the door and alerted me. I’ve got a cast on this foot here,” said Mike, who resided in one of the buildings. “I’m thankful that the tenants came.”

It was put under control at 1:30 a.m. The fire is under investigation, per fire officials.

New York City officials warned that smoky conditions could linger in the area, even with the fire put out. At-risk residents are encouraged to close their windows.

question who owns those buildings how did the fire start if it's arson like all those fires in the early twenty-teens where luxury apartments now stand and no reported arrest what if civilians or firefighters had been killed anyway the luxury apartment building should be up in a couple of years by the way how's those tunnels being dug under brooklyn coming along?!
