BELMONT, The Bronx (PIX11) — The tastes and culture of Italy will take over the Bronx during the annual Ferragosto Festival on Arthur Avenue.

The celebration of all things Italian is back on Sep. 8 and will stretch from East 187th Street to Crescent Avenue starting at 12 p.m.  Ferragosto Festival is free to all, inviting everyone to enjoy live music and entertainment along with delicious food.

The Ferragosto tradition originated in Italy centuries ago, to recognize the end of the harvest season and enjoy the fruits of one’s labor. These days, the tradition is celebrated by the many family-owned small businesses along Arthur Avenue, helping the area earn its reputation as the “Little Italy of the Bronx.”

Among this year’s entertainment includes Italian singers who’ve previously performed at Carnegie Hall as well as rock bands and Renaissance-style street theater performers. Vendors ranging from jewelers to tailors to woodcarvers will also offer a wide array items to shop from.
