BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) — Police are searching for a man who strangled a woman in the lobby of her Brooklyn building near Prospect Park last week, police said.

The suspect snuck up on the 25-year-old woman and wrapped his arm around her neck in the building near Ocean and Parkside avenues at the southeast corner of Prospect Park at around 11 p.m. on Aug. 22, according to the NYPD.

Cops said the suspect followed the woman into her building and attacked her near the mailboxes in the lobby.

The man told the victim to “shut up” as she fought him off and screamed “stop” and “help,” police said.

The suspect then took off and remained at large, as of Tuesday.

Submit tips to police by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477), visiting crimestoppers.nypdonline.org , downloading the NYPD Crime Stoppers mobile app, or texting 274637 (CRIMES) then entering TIP577. Spanish-speaking callers are asked to dial 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
