    Amtrak, NJ Transit return to normal after delays during fare holiday

    NEW YORK (PIX11) — NJ Transit and Amtrak have resumed close to normal after experiencing delays in and out of Penn Station Tuesday evening, according to officials.

    In a post on social media, NJ Transit said:

    Rail service into and out of Penn Station New York is operating on or close to schedule with residual delays to trains already enroute, following earlier Amtrak track maintenance in one of the Hudson River Tunnels.

    The delays lasted around five hours.

    Amtrak said crews were making repairs .

    The delays occurred on the second day of NJ Transit’s fare holiday, which N ew Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy announced earlier this month.
