Mr. Met, NJ Devil rank as best mascots in sports, survey says

NEW YORK (PIX11) — Mascots add to the fun of cheering on a favorite team, no matter the sport.

A study released by Casino.ca recently showed where the mascots for every sport rank, including the teams that call the tri-state area home. A total of 10,000 people with 2,000 fans per sport were asked to rate mascots. They ranked them out of five from best to worst to find out the best mascot by sport.

The New Jersey Devils mascot, NJ Devil, was ranked fifth best with a ranking of 4.48. That made it the top-ranking mascot in New York or New Jersey. Mr. Met was the eighth-best mascot, with a ranking of 4.4. The New York Islanders mascot, Sparky the Dragon, with a 3.42, was tied for 52nd with the San Jose Sharks mascot, S.J. Sharkie. Although far away from her hubby, Mrs. Met also made the list, being ranked 54th with a 3.39.

8. Mr. Met – New York Mets
9. Bango the Buck – Milwaukee Bucks
10. Stuff the Magic Dragon – Orlando Magic
