    Thunderstorms in region cause ground stop at LaGuardia Airport: FAA

    QUEENS, N.Y. (PIX11) — A ground stop was issued at LaGuardia Airport on Thursday due to thunderstorms near the region, according to the FAA .

    “Weather conditions have caused LGA Airport flight disruptions. Check with your airline to determine the status of your flight,” a post on LaGuardia Airport’s X account said.

    The ground stop at LaGuardia Airport was in effect until 10:30 p.m. It was lifted as of Friday morning.

    A ground stop is a process that r equires aircraft that meet specific criteria to remain on the ground, according to the FAA’s website .

    Departure delays were also issued at JFK and Newark airports. The average delay at JFK was 75 minutes, according to the FAA .
