BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) — The discovery of a third set of human remains between Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridge on Saturday evening has left the community in shock.

This marks the third time in recent weeks that skeletal remains have been found in the area, raising concerns among locals and visitors alike.

The alarming situation has prompted safety concerns among parkgoers and tourists. The bones were discovered near 10 Dock Street, close to where a human skull and other bones were found just two weeks after the first set of skeletal remains were found in the water near Brooklyn Bridge Park, according to the NYPD.

A couple of days later, more human remains were found on the rocks nearby. The second set of remains was discovered by a passerby.

“We just stumbled upon it, it’s right up in the rocks,” said Huntly Cooper of Brooklyn.

Maria Big, a frequent visitor to the park, expressed her disbelief: “It’s very surprising, I’m speechless, I’m shocked. I don’t know what to say.” Big, who often visits the park on weekends to relax, now finds herself questioning the safety of the area. “I often come here this a frequent weekend morning, just chill I brought a book to read,” she added.

The Chief Medical Examiner’s office is currently examining the remains to determine if they belong to one individual or multiple people.

Maria Big voiced her concerns saying, “What activity is going on? Am I safe in this area? There’s a lot of questions I’m going to have to look into it.”

Despite the unsettling discoveries, Big remains hopeful that authorities are taking the necessary steps to address the issue. “I believe everyone is doing everything they can. It’s definitely something to look into. It’s very serious, and I would love to see what type of implementation is being done, especially in a high-traffic area,” she stated.

As this is the third time bones have been found in the month of August, the area remains under investigation. Authorities are working to uncover the circumstances behind these disturbing findings and ensure public safety in this popular recreational spot.

    Timeline of Discoveries:

August 18: A city parks department officer found a skull and other bones on the shoreline in Brooklyn Bridge Park.

August 21: Bones were discovered in the same area.

August 31: More bone fragments were found by a person near the shoreline near 10 Dock Street in Dumbo.
