Special fashion show highlights young people with brain injuries in NYC

NEW YORK (PIX11) — It’s Fashion Week, and on Follow-up Friday, there will be a special runway show featuring young people living with Brain injuries.

PIX11’s Monica Morales is highlighting a special fashion show.

More than 30 New York City students are about to hit the stage and shine. PIX11 News first met 23-year-old Kevin Tobuck from Staten Island in Sept. 2022. He is just one of the dynamic young people from Ibrain , a place where more than 200 young people living with brain injuries get rehabilitation and educational services. Every year, Kevin, along with dozens of others, takes part in a special fashion show.

Surrounded by family and loved ones, they hit a special catwalk designed just for them inside Rodney’s comedy club on the Upper East Side.

It was a show to remember.

Also, during fashion week, PIX11 News got a sneak peek at what celebrity designer Victor de Souza was working on.

His show was held at the consulate general of Argentina.

The Harlem-based couture designer from Argentina, who dresses stars like Lady Gaga and Lauren Hill, showed PIX11 News his amazing designs. He hopes to inspire the next generation of Latin American designers.

Finally, there is a massive city push to hear the voices of NYCHA residents in 30 different neighborhoods about what to do with tens of thousands of dollars from the city.

PIX11 News followed Kenesha Traynham-Cooper to the Ingersoll houses.

She asked residents what they would do with $30,000 in their community.
