Man stole tow truck with his vehicle attached; hit several cars on Brooklyn street: NYPD

SUNSET PARK, Brooklyn (PIX11) — A man stole a tow truck with his car attached to it and hit several vehicles while furiously driving down a Brooklyn street on Friday, according to police and video.

The suspect shoved the tow truck driver while the operator was trying to take his vehicle in front of 170 53rd St. in Sunset Park at around 10:40 a.m., according to the NYPD.

“Get the f— away from this truck,” the suspect is heard saying to the operator in a social media video .

The suspect then got into the tow truck and drove off, police said. As he took off down the street, the vehicle that was hooked up to the tow hit several occupied and unoccupied cars before it detached near 53rd Street and Second Avenue, according to police and video.

The footage showed the door of the towed car swing open and hit a bunch of parked cars on the street.

The suspect kept driving in the tow truck until he abandoned it near 55th Street and Fifth Avenue and took off on foot, police said. There have been no arrests.

The tow truck operator and a 62-year-old man in one of the occupied vehicles suffered minor injuries, according to the NYPD.
