Man escapes custody at Bronx hospital: police

NEW YORK (PIX11) – A suspect is on the loose after escaping custody at a hospital in the Bronx on Thursday, police said.

Police are searching for 37-year-old Jose Lopez, who escaped on foot from NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln in Mott Haven around 11:50 a.m. while he was being treated there, according to the NYPD.

Lopez is not an imminent threat to the public, police said.

The NYPD released a surveillance photo of Lopez and asked for the public’s help in locating him.

Lopez is about 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs 170 pounds, police said.
