QUEENS, New York (PIX11) — An off-duty police officer was taken into custody Wednesday morning and faces multiple charges, authorities say.

Estarlin Rodriguez, 31, was arrested at 10:20 a.m. in Queens. He faces charges of harassment, petit larceny, and two counts of criminal mischief, according to police.

Sources tell PIX11 News that the off-duty officer went to get his things from a woman when he got into an argument with her. The officer’s relationship to the woman was not immediately made clear.

During the argument, authorities say Rodriguez broke a hookah device, slapped the woman across the face, and took her cellphone when she tried to call 911.

The woman was also placed in a headlock and cut her foot on a piece of shattered glass. Rodriguez allegedly then took his belongings and left the location.
