New affordable housing lottery open in Williamsburg, Brooklyn

WILLIAMSBURG, Brooklyn (PIX11) – A new affordable housing lottery has opened for a building in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

The affordable housing lottery is for The Welz , located at 159 Boerum St.

“The Welz is a beautiful 19-story building in which 49 affordable units will be marketed including 15 studios, 22 one-bedrooms, and 12 two-bedrooms,” the building’s listing states.

Some of the building’s amenities include in-unit washers and dryers, an in-unit dishwasher, air conditioning, and high-speed internet. The building will also allow up to two pets per apartment, with some breed restrictions.

The property is listed on the NYC Housing Connect website, an online portal where people can find and apply for affordable housing opportunities in New York City.

Applications for The Welz will remain open until Nov. 18. The eligible income range is $50,298 – $218,010.

Rent ranges from as low as $1,467 a month for a studio for a single person who makes up to $65,220 a year to $4,215 a month for a two-bedroom apartment for a family of five making up to $218,010 a year.
