Fire breaks out on building rooftop in Midtown

MIDTOWN, Manhattan (PIX11) — A fire broke out in the penthouse of a 21-story high-rise building in Midtown, video from the scene shows.

Flames could be seen shooting out from one of the top floors of 305 East 40th Street in Manhattan.

Firefighters were seen quickly responding to the scene despite gridlock traffic surrounding the United Nations nearby.

The fire started a little after 10 a.m. but was put out by 10:30 a.m., fire officials say.
