NEW YORK (PIX11) – Mayor Eric Adams is facing a federal indictment on criminal charges, officials announced on Thursday.

The embattled 110th mayor of New York City vowed to fight against the indictment, saying he does not plan to resign.

“From here, my attorneys will take care of the case so I can take care of the city,” said Adams outside Gracie Mansion. “My day-to-day will not change. I will continue to do the job for 8.3 million New Yorkers that I was elected to do.”

Adams was charged with accepting bribes and illegal campaign contributions from foreign sources stemming from his 2021 mayoral campaign.

“As we allege year after year after year, he kept the public in the dark,” said Damien Williams, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York said during a news conference on Thursday. “He told the public he received no gifts, even though he was secretly being showered with them.”
