NEW YORK (PIX11) – New York City Mayor Eric Adams is facing a federal indictment on bribery and corruption charges , officials announced on Thursday.

Adams was charged with accepting bribes and illegal campaign contributions from foreign sources stemming from his 2021 mayoral campaign. The embattled 110th mayor of New York City vowed to fight against the indictment, saying he does not plan to resign.

“From here, my attorneys will take care of the case so I can take care of the city,” said Adams outside Gracie Mansion. “My day-to-day will not change. I will continue to do the job for 8.3 million New Yorkers that I was elected to do.”

Adams allegedly sought and knowingly accepted money from foreign donors, including Turkish government officials, prosecutors contend. Adams accepted well over $100,000 in luxury travel benefits, including business class flights and opulent hotel rooms, according to U.S. Attorney Damian Williams.

“As we allege year after year after year, he kept the public in the dark,” Williams said. “He told the public he received no gifts, even though he was secretly being showered with them.”
