Brooklyn family gets new kitchen repairs, and check for groceries

BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) – PIX11’s Monica Morales got a lot done this week for our viewers.

PIX11 News fought for a mother and daughter to get repairs, and now a PIX11 viewer is giving them a check for groceries.

Lindsay and Roslyn Coker broke our hearts with their daily struggle in Williamsburg last month.

Roslyn is disabled and lost both legs due to complications caused by her diabetes. Her only daughter, Lindsay, takes care of her and is her lifeline. Her kitchen was in shambles when PIX11 News first visited, but we always go back.

After our story, they got a new kitchen and appliances. There’s more: a nonprofit called Circle of Generosity saw the story. Thanks to Valerie Fitch and Michael Clinton, the organization’s founders, this family is getting a check.

And there’s more good news from the city. They are getting a new home.

In December, Vin Rock of Naughty by Nature appeared on our Monica Makes It Happen show. When he appeared on our show with JPMorgan Chase, he was inspired to join their Small Business Mentorship Program.

Vin Rock joined the class and graduated this week with about 100 other entrepreneurs . This week, Vin Rock also received a huge honor in his hometown of East Orange: a basketball court named after Naughty by Nature.

Now for some good news in the Bronx.

Last month, Reverend Oswald Denis told us that some of his parishioners were seniors who lived in the Adams houses. After our story, service has improved and become more consistent.
