    Men with sledgehammers steal purses worth over $30,000 in Manhattan: sources

    UPPER EAST SIDE, Manhattan (PIX11) – Two men used sledgehammers to steal three luxury purses on the Upper East Side on Sunday, according to the NYPD.

    The smash-and-grab happened near Madison Avenue and East 64th Street around 7 p.m., police said. Patrol cars and police officers were parked outside of a Chanel store, video on Citizen App showed, but the NYPD would not confirm where the burglary took place.

    The suspects stole three purses valued at $32,000, sources told PIX11 News.

    There have been no arrests.

    Anyone who thinks they can resell these stolen purses for a lot of money is mistaken. It’s not like a stolen car where the parts are more than the value of the car.
