PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y. (PIX11) – If you’ve been looking to bring home a new furry friend now might be the time.

North Shore Animal League America will waive adoption fees on all cats and kittens from Thursday through Monday, Oct. 14. Those looking to adopt can visit Bianca’s Furry Friends Feline Adoption Center in Port Washington.

    Will Hurricane Milton hit NY?

Newly adopted cats will come with all of their routine examinations and vaccinations without charge, but those who have not yet been spayed or neutered will require a deposit to do so.

Rescue teams from the Long Island-based animal rescue are assisting shelters impacted by Hurricane Helene, and those in the path of Hurricane Milton . Organizers are now running this adoption event to help make room for more rescue animals in the storm’s path.

North Shore Animal League America’s adoption centers are open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.  No appointments are necessary.

This is wonderful. The shelter is doing. They have a heart and it shows we are New Yorkers. We are tough, but we do have a big heart and please everyone adopt with your heart. If you have one cat two cats three they don’t cause too much trouble they go in the cat litter you take out the poop and you change the litter once a week or twice if you have to, they don’t bother you. They’re beautiful to have and God bless everyone who goes out there to adopt! And yes, we need to make room for the other ones that will be out of our house when the hurricane hits.
