STATEN ISLAND (PIX11) – Nearly 10,000 runners will zip through Staten Island for Sunday’s half marathon, which will prompt road closures across the borough.
The 13.1-mile course runs along Staten Island’s waterfront, with views of New York Harbor and the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge. It’s the last of New York Road Runners’ running series that took athletes across all five boroughs.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Staten Island half marathon:
When is the Staten Island Half?
The marathon will kick off at 8 a.m. Sunday on Bay Street below Slosson Terrace
What is the route?
Runners will start moving south on Bay Street to Father Capodanno Boulevard, pass through Ocean Breeze Park then turn around and come back up through McClean Avenue and Bay and Edgewater streets. The race will finish on Bay Street just before the Staten Island Ferry terminal.

What roads will be closed?
From 2 a.m. to 2 p.m., the following roads will be closed:
- Richmond Terrace from Stuyvesant Place to Nick Laporte Place
- Bay Street from Nick Laporte Place to Victory Blvd.; Victory Blvd. to School Road
- Slosson Terrace from Central Ave. to Bay Street
From 7 a.m. to 12 p.m., these roads will be closed:
- School Road from Bay Street to Tompkins Avenue
- Lily Pond Avenue from Tompkins Avenue to Robin Road
- Father Capodanno Blvd from Robin Road to Midland Avenue
- McClean Avenue from Lily Pond Ave. to Tennessee Road
- Battery Road from Tennessee Road to New York Avenue
- Marshall Road
- Drum Road
- New York Ave. between School Road and Battery Road
- Hudson Road Mont Sec Ave. from Hudson Road to New York Ave.
- Hylan Blvd. from Bay St. to Edgewater St.
- Edgewater Street from Hylan Boulevard to Front Street
- Front Street from Bay Street to Wave Street
- Murray Hulbert Ave. from Wave St. to Hannah Street
- Hannah Street from Murray Hulbert Ave. to Bay St.
All the above roads will have no parking from 12 a.m. to 1 p.m.
