    Maria Torres-Springer discusses new role as NYC’s first deputy mayor

    NEW YORK (PIX11) – Mayor Eric Adams on Tuesday appointed Maria Torres-Springer to be New York City’s new first deputy mayor after Sheena Wright resigned from her position.

    Wright’s resignation came about a month after federal agents raided her house and seized her electronic devices as part of an investigation.

    Torres-Springer was serving as the deputy mayor for Housing, Economic Development, and Workforce. She also served in high-level positions under mayors Mike Bloomberg and Bill de Blasio.

    Torres-Springer joined this week’s episode of “PIX on Politics” and discussed her new role during a turbulent time in the Adams administration.
