Clouds, showers expected in NY, NJ before temps drop

NEW YORK (PIX11) – Sunday is expected to remain mostly cloudy with some breaks of sun.  However, a frontal system is already affecting areas north of the city bringing wet weather.

There will continue to be showers for some throughout the day and a chance of showers for others through the evening. This will cause some areas to have high temperatures in the 50s and 60s while others are much warmer into the 70s.

A light jacket will be needed Monday for Columbus Day, as temperatures will begin to plummet behind the cold front. Around noon, temperatures are expected to be in the mid to low 60s before falling to the mid and low 50s by the late evening hours.

There will be plenty of sunshine throughout the day with winds up to 25 miles per hour. By Monday night for the ALCS game at Yankee Stadium it will be clear, breezy and crisp.

This comfortable, dry air will remain in place for the entire week and into next weekend. Expect plenty of sun and high temperatures below normal in the mid to upper 50s on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Thursday marks a slight warming trend with temperatures around 60. By Saturday, temperatures should warm up to the upper 60s.
