    NJ Transit train operator killed, passengers injured in crash: officials

    NEW JERSEY (PIX11) – A train operator was killed, and over 20 passengers were injured when an NJ Transit light rail struck a tree on the tracks in New Jersey early Monday morning, according to Gov. Phil Murphy .

    A River Line light rail train was heading southbound from Trenton when it hit a tree just north of Roebling Station, a spokesperson for NJ Transit said. At least 23 passengers were injured in the crash.

    NJ Transit suspended River Line service in both directions between Trenton and Florence to clear the downed trees near Roebling.

    Bus service is being provided in the meantime, according to the agency.
