HICKSVILLE, N.Y. (PIX11) — A dog attack on Long Island left three people injured, including one child who had to be airlifted to a local hospital, Tuesday afternoon, according to Nassau County Police Department.

Police received a 911 call at 12:20 p.m. about a dog bite at a residence on Lantern Road in Hicksville. Officers say two dogs were involved, and two female victims and one juvenile had been injured.

Officers were able to secure the animals without the help of animal control, authorities said.

The two adult women were transported to the area hospital for leg injuries. The underage victim believed to be about 11 years old, was airlifted to Cohens Children’s Hospital for facial injuries.

The events leading up to the dog attack remain unclear. An investigation remains ongoing, authorities said.

The status of the victims is unknown at this time.
