FLUSHING, Queens (PIX11) – The Department of Buildings has investigated a shattered glass panel that injured a 9-year-old girl and a man in Queens on Monday.

Glass came raining down from a balcony railing on the seventh floor of a mixed-use building at 140-22 Beech Avenue, DOB inspectors say.

A spokesperson tells PIX11 News that they could not determine what caused the glass to shatter or whether it was an issue that would impact other balconies at the building.

DOB investigators issued a violation to the property owners for failing to maintain the building. They’ve also ordered the owners to hire an engineer to inspect the stability of the other glass balconies.
