NEW YORK (PIX11) — Mayor Eric Adams joined PIX11 News to provide updates on several city initiatives, including increasing wages for childcare workers.

Adams announced a tentative agreement with a local daycare union and the Day Care Council of New York, which would raise wages and set a new minimum wage to $18 an hour for thousands of childcare workers across the city.

Employees will also receive a bonus and money to put towards health care.

“That is about 2500 workers, mostly women, and women of color who provide childcare services to thousands of families across the city,” said Deputy Mayor Ana Almanzar.
