NEW YORK (PIX11) — Things have taken a massive downturn for the Giants.

The Giants are 2 and 4 and now they have lost their franchise tackle Andrew Thomas for the season after undergoing surgery for a Lisfranc injury on his left foot.

Thomas is a 25-year-old stud at tackle who has suffered injuries now in each of the last two seasons since signing a 5-year $117.5 million contract extension.

What is frustrating for the Giants is that the offensive line has been playing well with Thomas, Runyan, Michael Schmitz, Van Wroten, and Eluemunor. The offensive line was no longer the talking point that it has been for the last ten years.

Now, the Giants could start Josh Ezeudu at left tackle, move Eluemunor from the right side to the left, and start Ezeudu or  Evan Neal on the right side. In short, the options are not all that great and the Giants have now lost their rock on the offensive line for the season.

After some very tough losses with the injuries mounting and with the uneven play of quarterback Daniel Jones, it is tough to now be hopeful for the Giants this season. Now, I do know they will be well-coached and prepared, but talent is talent. Next up, is an NFC East match-up with the Philadelphia Eagles Sunday at Met Life Stadium.

Oh yeah, the return of Saquon Barkley. Should be interesting.

Until next time New York, I’m Marc Malusis.
